Anyone have ideas on who deserves a vote in this race?

I tried taking a quick glance at all the candidates, but the ones with the most readily available information just seem like community grifters.

Same question but for the District 18 congress seat. There are like 30 people running. Ive read that Montiel has the biggest following of the non communists running, but I'm sure it doesn't matter based on the voting history of the district. May just vote for George Foreman's kid, just because.

I read a bit of Montiel's responses. Assuming they're the truth (LOL), they were enough to swing my vote that way.

I may look a bit harder at some of the independents though, just to be sure.

Yeah, I know nothing about her other than she has Republican endorsements.

Way to go, District C. You're going to replace wine mom Abbie Kamin with this clown:

I thought it as going to a runoff in district C?

Yeah it is going to a runoff, the second place guy Nick Hellyar is the "conservative" so he will be in run off with this commie.

I voted for Nick and will do it again in the runoff.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL. You don't really believe that, do you?

Years ago he was the VP of the Houston GLBT Political Caucus and even they ran him him off for being a useless grifter. He's only courting Republican voters because no one else likes him. He just wants to get elected to something ... anything. He runs for something, loses, then slithers back under his rock and no one sees him until he wants to run for something again. He got called out very publicly during the election cycle for lying about endorsements from both Annise Parker and the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund. He also falsely claimed to be endorsed by "all unions" in a texting campaign he sent to Dems.

He represents most of the things F16 hates about politicians.

So is he any better than Joe? That guy comes off as a professional useless person that just needs a job.

Almost anyone is better than Nick, and I say that from having known him for almost 20 years.

I didn't vote for Joe in the first round, and I don't know a great deal about him, but I do think him serving as president of the Freedmen's Town super neighborhood ought to count for something. He's doing yeoman's work trying to balance issues of historic preservation and infrastructure modernization in the face of both gentrification and wholesale opposition to progress by people like Gladys House whose biggest issues seem to be reparations and repeating the lie about the brick streets being laid by freed slaves. Anyone who can put up with her BS and still get something done is worthy of some level of respect.

There will be. But anyone who did not vote for Nick will end up consolidating to Joe. lol.

Joe's going to win. And your tax dollars will fund this incompetent person's salary seeking tax payer dollars for unicorn farts and ferry piss for as long as he wants to keep his job.

It's not like Abbie Kamin accomplished anything other than feel important while completely ignoring her constituents. Council members have no real power to do anything. Looking at Joe's website, it looks like he'll be the guy who crusades against TxDOT expanding freeways, and he'll lose that battle.

All I ask for in a council member is someone who recognizes the truly non-partisan nature of effective municipal governance. Picking up trash on time, fighting crime, and providing safe, reliable infrastructure are not (or at least should not be) ideological expectations.

Well if are looking for that, Joe's website leaves much to be desired.

Hell, if that's what you want, Whitmire has been **that** in spades and all it has done is earn him censure from his own party.

And I agree that's what COH electeds are charged to do.

Yeah, I get it… I used the parenthesis for a reason….not arguing with your assessment at all. We all have to vote for a turd in the crap sandwich, so he got mine, for better or worse. Haha.

Living in Houston is always voting for the "best" of the worst. I despised Abbie almost as much as Dora, so I am voting for the person that is furthest away from her sphere.

Fair enough, but he definitely doesn't qualify as the best of the worst, even on his best day. I'd vote for J. Brad Batteau before I'd vote for Nick.
