It's highly likely that I got the name wrong - I have pictures from that photo booth and don't know why I remember that...

Physical Wimsical was awesome. Had a few b-days there when I was little. Don't remember much of it though, because I got pretty hammered at those b-days. I wish I could drink like I could when I was 8 now.

Hanna Barbera Land, I think used to be were Splashtown is now north of town. Across from there was the old Goodyear blimp base.

I remember when the Oilers used to have a practice facility on Fannin across the street from the fire station. It was always easy to get an autograph back then.

Maybe, but I think the land where the base was still sits vacant.

Planet Ford has always been there. Back when the blimp was there, the dealership had a different name. I can't remember the name but for some reason, I remember thinking it was a funny name. The blimp base was where the Lowe's is now.

On another note, anyone remember the driving range where the Walmart and apartments are at the intersection of 610 and S. Post Oak?

My brother just reminded me of one of those annoying commercials of old.

"Need new siding, call Mr. Norman" "Need new gutters, call Mr. Norman"...There was a spanish version too that ran on english stations (typically during wrestling).

Wow this thread brings back memories...

Fame City was the first time I saw someone complete Double Dragon on the arcade. I was an amazed 3rd grader at the time.

Gulfgate Mall was POS as recently as 10 years ago. It's been totally rebuilt now of course.
Now it's become a mecca for Hispanics (HEB, restaurants, banks galore, Home Depot/Lowes, Best Buy, etc).

Midnight Train to Georgia made famous by Gladys Knight & the Pipps was originally a country song called Midnight Plane to Houston.

And the person who uttered the phrase, "Midnight Plane to Houston" was Farrah Fawcett.

She was living with Lee Majors at the time and the songwriter called Lee Majors but Farrah answered. The songwriter asked what she was up to. She answered she was about to take a midnight plane to Houston.

Ironically, Lee Majors now has a house in Houston.

Not so fast, Alanis. It is marginally coincidental but not ironic. If Majors would have made it known that the song caused him to be turned off by Houston or he'd never take a plane in or out of Houston due to the proposed lyrics, that would be irony.

I know a ton of useless music trivia ... but I did not know this. Interesting.
