I guess it shouldn't perplex me since it is more about making money than it is about supporting a certain school's athletics. t.u. stuff sells because of their recent success in athletics. Period.
However, I wonder if the opposite would be true in Lubbock (i.e. Would they sell A&M stuff if we were as nationally acclaimed as t.u.?) Somehow, I think not.
My point was that I am surprised that the retailers will sell t.u. apparel and not Aggie apparel in Lubbock when Texas Tech considers itself to be a rival to both schools. Ask any dyed-in-the-wool Red Raider and they will tell you that their athletic seasons are a success if they beat A&M and Texas. In fact, I've noticed a huge influx of "Saw 'Em Off" stickers in Lubbock in the past couple of years.
I'll just chalk it up to Tech's recent ownage of us on the gridiron. No one wants to be a rival with a school they can't beat.
