Today I pulled out an old picture ---- actually it's the Amarillo Globe-News dated August 24, 1956 --- when "Little Richard, his manager, and two band members were arrested at the Nat Ballroom for resisting arrest, vagrancy and engaging in lewdness.".

This took place at the Nat Ballroom at the corner of W. 6th Ave and Georgia. There were some 400 teenagers (all white) in attendance and Little Richard had been warned about "lewd" conduct such as unbuttoning his shirt on stage.

The next morning they pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace in Justice of the Peace C. W. Carder's courtroom and the other charges were dropped.
