We have a family farm up at stratford where we hunt pheasant, and we've had pretty good success there in the past. However, I wouldn't mind diversifying into some cranes/ducks/geese or finding some additional land up there that we can day hunt for a group of about 12 guys. Anybody have any leads on people willing to allow day hunts within an hour of dumas and what a reasonable price per gun would be?

oh, and the weekend in question would not be opening weekend. We would be hunting from friday december 11th through sunday around lunch.

That's about 40 miles from Stratford. Pick a day when the DPS aren't out and you could do that easily in half an hour or less.

Man, google maps doesn't even know where oslo texas is... Im guessing that it's near gruver? we're staying in dumas. How far a drive from dumas?

When are you going up, Sat.? Where is your family place? We have a section of wheat, down near Sunray, that is covered up with geese. I will email you Friday to get your info.

Well sorry to waste everybody's time. Apparently I was the only one that wanted to do some goose hunting. I ran the idea by a couple of the other people going and they thought I was nuts for wanting to go shoot some geese instead of pheasant. They didn't seem to care that they could do both. I do appreciate the responses though.

and the family place is a few miles north of stratford. It's CRP with irrigated corn/milo on all sides which has made for some pretty fine pheasant hunting in past years. Hoping this year will be good as well.

Im class of 02, but everybody going is an aggie (with the exception of one okie lite cowboy). I have a couple uncles going that are class of 88 and I think 84 both in the corps (i see your tag indicates that youre class of 84, you didn't happen to know any Walkers at A&M did you?). My dad was 77. one of my dads buddies from 73. Brother 04... a few of my buddies from 02 and that should cover everybody else.

Depending on where you want to draw the boundaries, it's about 50 square miles or so.

I don't know that you'd find any geese in Oslo, though.

When I was a kid, our pond had water in it every winter and we would get quite a few ducks and occasional geese.

These days, when we get enough rain to fill it up, it all soaks in or evaporates within two or three weeks.
