Are we only here because of the Law School? Are there any other Ags in this town?

There are a lot of us. Some of us, like me, because work brought us here and we have to be here; and others who were from this area to start with and have returned home. I think you'll find us falling in two distinct camps-my group can't stand it and the others will spend time talking about how its really not a bad place. I understand Aggies being able to tolerate and maybe even like it here if they have other ties, but for those of us who don't its a pretty tough existence.

I moved here because our family is here. Other than that, I would be home in College Station.

I live in Lubbock and am from this area. The weather is great, the cost of living is reasonable and the folks not associated with tech are wonderful.

It's a shame that TTU brings such a bad reputation to this area.

The closer to Amarillo, the better it is...less sand and less techies.

I'm here at the law school. Graduate next semester.

Lubbock is a good place. It's not for me, but its a good place.

I am here because of work. Lubbock isnt a bad town and I like the area but tech makes it hard sometimes. I graduated in May and took a job at Lubbock Electric, that said, i really enjoy working here and the people I deal with on a day to day basis.

Suzy,

Congrats on almost being done! I'm a lowly 1L, and graduating feels so incredibly far away... Where are you working after graduation?

I'm here in Physical Therapy school. New poster to TexAgs, but thought I would join. I don't mind Lubbock, there are a lot of nice people here, but I doubt I will stay when I graduate in 2010! Howdy everyone

Grew up in this area, and returned after I graduated from A&M. Family and friends are here. Like others have said, not a bad place to be at all.

I'm here because my husband's job moved us here. I'm originally from Amarillo so it's nice being close to family. I actually enjoy living here. I work at Texas Tech and it is the best job I've ever had. Seriously. The folks I work with don't hassle me at all about being an Aggie.

Done for the semester and I'm back home in Cleburne. I'll be back in the LBK on the 5th.

Aye - Who are you? We probably know each other. I'll be working for a firm in Fort Worth. I am very excited and VERY fortunate.

Suzy,

My name is Traci, and I'm actually a 1L at the University of New Mexico. Sorry if i made you think I was at Tech law! Congrats on the Ft. Worth firm! That's such great news! I'm looking forward to getting back to Texas as soon as possible.

I figure hey it is still in Texas so that is pretty good. I guess I just can't wait to get a job etc.

Wow, Suzy, I am really glad you got a job in Ft. Worth.

So when are we (Aggies) going to get together for some Aggie basketball games? Monday's game is going to be on tv.

Aggies76, I work at Tech, too. Drop me an email.

I grew up in Lubbock, and most of my family, and my wife's family, is here. I love Lubbock, with the exception of SOME Tech fans. Not all of them are intolerable. Most, but not all.

Moved here in 1991 so my wife could go to grad school, and I started with the City. If you had told us in college we would live in Lubbock, we would have killed ourselves. However, with the exception of the tech *******s, it is a great place to live and work. Not perfect, but pretty good. We have a great church home, friends, and schools our kids love.

The fanatical fans do make me want to move, along with the all tech all the time media, but what do you expect living in Lubbock. If I move to College Station, I would expect the same for the Ags.

If you have lived anywhere else, and we have, and you can look past the tech annoyances, this is a good place. And most importantly, this summer we should be able to buy booze at United! Woo Hoo!

There may not be time to do the job right, but there is always time to do the job over!!

I really agree that Lubbock is a pretty good place. I enjoy it but I really like the area and the small town around Lubbock. I have met some great people around here and people do a pretty good job at making me feel welcome, even though I am the "token Aggie". I am not from up here or ever thought I would live here but now that I do, I might stay here for a spell. Lands reasonably cheap, cost of living is low, good people, and hopefully becoming wet in May.
