What are some of the better apartment complexes in Lubbock?

depends on what you are looking for. student living is going to be different than a young single person with a new job, which will be different than a small family, etc. What is your situation/requirements, and I might have some suggestions for you

Looking for something for two female students.
Not really partiers.

Depending on what you can afford, the Center across from campus would be the best. Ashton Point is also a good choice, but not real close to campus. For something easier on your budget, Savannah Oaks at 50th and Slide is nice, and not a party place, or the Preserve at 82nd and Ave U.

If they don't mind being close to the parties, I would also recommend Sterling Fountains or Sterling Point.

Are they going to be undergrads? If they are grad students, Las Colinas on 50th & ____ (near the west loop) offers a special of $100 off the rent.

I live at Sagewood, 66th & Frankford and absolutely love it. Its outside the loop, about 15 minutes to campus, but I wanted it that way. I've lived here for 3 years and its quiet (except for my new neighbors...grrr). There is a great neighborhood surrounding it, great for walking, running in the evenings, and it's close to several restaurants, grocery stores, and other shops.

Now, if by nice you mean more upscale than your average apartment, look at the Dominion on 50th and Chicago. Its gated too. Or the Reserve (by the Strip), which doesn't cater to undergrads but some friends are moving there and excited about it.

I believe the Reserve is on 10th and Frankford, formerly known as Jefferson Commons. Don't move there. The Preserve is the one near the strip on 82nd and U, and is the one I mentioned earlier. I had a girlfriend who lived there while we were in grad school, but I also know a girl who lived there during undergrad.

SuzyQ, thank you for thinking of me and NOT studying. It is the Preserve at prairie point. 4-5 years old. Not many people living there, so it is not loud. Management has been good so far.

$99 for the first month and I got $665 a month after that for a two bedroom/ two bath. You can't beat it. Thin walls though, so don't live next to me

Overall, they are pretty nice. There are actually 5 large complexes all within about 3 blocks from each other:

The Center: Directly across from campus, near the football field. Very nice, but pretty pricey. Has shops and restaurants in the building and the shopping center in the same parking lot. Interior parking garage and pool, so it is pretty secure.

Sterling Fountains: Pretty nice, been open about 3 or 4 years. Ranges from regular 3 bedroom apartments to 2 story loft-style apartments.

Point: Made by same people who built Fountains. Been open since 2004. Really nice outside, pretty nice inside. Basic 2-4 bedroom layouts. 4th floor are more luxurious than 1-3, and 4th is serviced by an elevator.

Trails: Same people who built Point & Fountains. Cheapest of all the apartments in the area, but not bad for college kids. My girlfriend has lived there for 3 years. They have been open since 2003. 2-4 bedroom layouts. One block further from campus than Point.

New apartments opening up: Don't know the name of these because they are not officially open yet. Move-ins begin next month. From the outside, they appear to be the same style as The Center, and are located directly across the street. Both these and the Center are offering reduced rent right now, probably due to so many apts in one small area.

i have lived in trails and fountains before. Fountains was overpriced, but never really had a problem, trails is more reasonable, but its a college apartment, same that you get anywhere.

The newer places are called the cottages, and they look really nice. I bet they have a nice price tag as well though....
