anyone be interested in one of those mini-helmets?? My girlfriends dad played QB for tascosa and his father in law got him a Tascosa mini-helmet. I coveted it in the Amarillo High model and my gf asked him where he got them. He had to order them by the dozen and was planning on gifting some to some former AHS football player friends of the family and selling the rest to make his money back. They are schutt helmets and the AIR model. They look just like Amarillo High's helmets. Be a good gift for the former sandie football player in your family. I'll get back about a price if people are interested. He's not looking to make money on them, just recoup some of the money spent by having to order a dozen so his wife doesn't kill him.

I just always felt he provided no input in teaching/coaching. Pretty nice guy but he was swayed by parent pressure. My position coach actually told us to ignore his instructions on how to play the position. I would not trade my experiences at AHS for anything. It help make me what I am, A&M did the rest.

his final years of coaching he really was just more of a symbol than a coach. he just stood on the sidelines and let the staff do the work. at least that is what i gathered during my time in amarillo. i don't think he put as much into his players as most other coaches around the state. There was some definite D-I talent on the 1999 AHS team -- none of which were helped in finding scholarship opportunities by Coach Dippel. D-I programs arent exactly busting down the doors to see what the panhandle high schools have to offer.

I was told that the MS took a lot out of him over the years. When I played for him in the late 70s, he was fully engaged and constantly pushing us.
