Thanks for that info CanyonAg. We've heard that the band will make a long road trip out of their trip to Lubbock. They will not be spending the night here as they usually do, but will return to College Station immediately following the game.

That will not be a fun day for them, but I guess it helps cut costs.

I went to my first A&M-Tech game in Lubbock in '85, and my last in '05. The last two I went to, I didn't order tickets but went when someone else who did gave theirs to me. I stopped ordering tickets after the goal post game, and it's only worse now that Tech has moved their student section so that it basically splits the visitor's section. Prior to '03, the Tech students were down at the south end, and unless they decided to shove the goal posts through the visitor's section, there wasn't much direct interaction. But now, if you've got tickets in the lower part of the 100 level visitors sections, you have a hard time seeing the game for the tech students standing on benches, and get to deal with them the whole game. Whoever came up with the idea to rearrange the student seating in Lubbock was either a moron or a first class jerk, or both.

teef, yes, that is how I picked my name. When I first registered for texags in 2003 I had just turned 19 and never even been to rocky's. I picked it because someone back then posted under the name bashriprocks, so I just decided to pick another bar. I also posted under the name hub-city, but just like the bar, that name got shut down. I then revived this name from the dead.

Wow a two page thread on the Panhandle board!!!

Why am I not surprised it is about attending football games in Lubbock.

I have been going to tech games since the 70's. My last one was in '96.

Last ONE. Ever.

My first tech game was in '99 and after they beat us, I was walking back to my car with my future wife, her parents and my parents. A truck full of guys pulled up and threw a couple of beer bottles at me and yelled a few colorful metaphors with some racial slurs and drove off. This has always left a bad taste in my mouth.

My most recent game, I attended '05 game and I sat with my father in law and he has season tickets. The alumni weren't no where near as ****ty as the students. There were a few that talked to me and wished our team luck the rest of the season after we got our asses handed to us again. When we were walking out, there was one gentleman who got in my face about getting our asses kicked, but I just walked out...since I was outnumbered.

I recently moved to Lubbock and this past season, I went to 2 tech games with my father in law since he had no one to go with and I wasn't headed to College Station. Again, most of the alumni were polite, but I didn't wear any of my A&M gear. Maybe one or two guys made a reference to A&M becuase tech wasn't playing up to their potential.

I work in a company full of tech grads. I think that less then 5% actually graduated from another school. I got my ribbing of course during the football season, but there are only 5 coworkers that like to rub it in a little. The rest are really cool about it unless they come back from 27 down in basketball to win...then they bring it up.

So with all this, like everywhere else, you have your bad apples. Tech might have more than others, but they do have some great people. I work with many of them. Just try and stay away from the students and the mob mentality and hopefully you won't get a beer bottle whizzing by your head.

What's wrong with Tech fans is that they actually believe that you have to be a d-bag to be a good fan. And that since "everyone else does it" that it's OK.

The facts are that everyone DOESN'T do it, and it's NOT the way to be a good fan. Nebraska has for years been acknowledged as having some of the best fans, and they don't act like a bunch of immature children to opposing teams and fans. Aggies don't either (see who's #2 in that poll). And yes, there are exceptions, but by and large the teams and fans that come the Kyle are treated either well, or with indifference.

Even one of my friends, who's a big Tech fan, says that Tech fans don't know how to win, and haven't learned to be classy fans yet. And it ain't gonna happen until SOMEONE acknowledges that there's a problem instead of brushing it aside as "no big deal".

A prime example is the comment Hyatt just made that it's a good thing that Tech has this reputation "because it means you guys are loud and rowdy and making a difference". He doesn't get it.

Good lawd... they live in the armpit of Texas... let them be dbags... in their natural environment.

P.S. - All the Tech grads over 30 I know are good people... Under 30 (give or take) are D-bags... and all in all, just pretty worthless and cork soakery.
