Hey locals,
I'm planning on leaving my current job in afghanistan on or about OCT 1 and returning home to Amarillo. I'm trying to line up a job for when I get back.

My past experience is as a civil engineer/project manager, so that's where I'm looking first but those seem to be hard to come by, so I'm considering other options. If I don't find a job I really like, I want to go back to school part time. Then I'd just need a decent job to bring home some pay while I finished grad school.


I'm really open to anything as long as the hours aren't so insane I can't go to school part time. I've been lookiing into getting into the wind energy business, and have submitted a couple of applications, if anyone has any info on that area, that would be great. any other possibilities greatly appreciated too.

is planning to build a 300 megawatt wind farm (Happy site) in Randall County, SW of Canyon, construction beginning within 2 years.

The project is dependent on the erection of a 345KV transmission line to serve said wind farm. This is being built by Sharyland Utilites

The timeframe for building the line to serve the Happy Wind Farm is the same, two years.

One might guess that these two groups might need some help.

You might want to check out the USDA/TAMU research station at Bushland, especially if you are going back to school. There are lots of college and grad students that work there. Hours are pretty flexible.

325 is the Abilene/San Angelo area code, of course 806 is the Panhandle. I know of some Rapstines near White Deer, one would assume this is the same family.


Rocky: I worked at Bushland many moons ago (1982-1984) Good people out there. Saw one guy (student worker) killed while working on the wind project out there.

Terry is a nice guy. I think he's more involved with the leasing aspect of wind projects but I'm sure he could point you in the right direction.
