Where is a good place to play golf in Amarillo? Have a friend going there for a week. He wants to play a time or two.

Palo Duro Creek in Canyon, Ross Rogers (two courses) in Amarillo....any of those are tough to beat.

I haven't played it since it first opened up in 1999 so I don't know what kind of shape it is in now a days, but the Arrowhead course at Comanche Trails was pretty good for a public course. A little different than most, It was a real lynx style course no trees to speak of, huge fairways, huge greens, lots of undulations, but deep, deep rough that will penalize a wayward shot. It was in great shape when I played it, but like I say that was a long time ago. But I will agree with the other poster Ross, and PD Creek are both good tracks as well.

I've been playing a lot out at Palo Duro lately. Ross Rogers is a nice course too, but I like Palo Duro more right now.

If you can swing it La Paloma is the best by far.

My parents live on La Paloma. It's the best course in the city that isn't private.

My rankings:

1. La Paloma
2. ACC
3. Comanche Arrowhead
4. Tascosa CC
5. Comanche Trails
6. Canyon CC
7. Palo Duro Creek
8. Ross Rogers West
9. Ross Rogers East

I will say that I haven't played either of the RR courses since 1999 - didn't they renovate one or both of them?

Does anyone remember Southwest GC? I learned to play there and also at Hunsley Hills which later changed its name to Palo Duro Creek. Canyon CC is a fun little 9-hole course - my one and only hole-in-one occurred there on No. 7!
