I am sure this has been talked about, but I always enjoy going to a good place to eat. It doesn't matter where it is. So, Panhandlers & South Plainsmen, where are you favorite places to eat?

So far, I have found a few places that I go like Thai Thai, Sazon (Chipotle Ranch sauce is amazing), & El Paisanos.

If you in Perryton, La Casita breakfast burritos may be the best I have had in my life. I think they put a little crack in them to make you want them everyday of your life. Their lunch fajita burittos aren't to shabby either.

Tulia:

El Camino Mexican food. My wife loves their chile rellenos

Canyon:

We have 4 Thai places in a town of 12,000, but the best is Sayakorman's, on the courthouse square.

Pepitos (23rd street)is a good Mexican food place owned by my neighbors

Feldmans on north 23rd next to United Supermarket is a good all-around restaurant with unique decor

Fat Boys in the same area is a good BBQ place

Hil's on south 23rd is a good hamburger joint. I really like their onion rings.

Amarillo:

Tacos Garcia on Ross for Mexican food

Blue Star at I-40 and Western for hamburgers. Their cheese fries will start blocking your arteries from 15 feet away....but oh so good

My Thai on north Coulter for good Thai

Kabuki Romanza on I-40 between Coulter and Soncy is a fun special occasion place...it's one of those places where they cook on the grill in front of you.

I grew up on El Camino in Tulia.

The Sportsman in Quitaque used to be really good. But it has been years since I was there.

I second this, although the name is actually Blue Sky. Outstanding burgers! Great place.

Gonna have to disagree with you on that! Not a bad burger, but not as good as Blue Sky. Excellent onion rings though!

I am going to make a list and try all these places. I have actually heard of La Casitas breakfast burritos from a guy at work. I don't even know when I will be up that way to eat there.

Is that in downtown Vigo Park or out in the Suburbs?

I had a friend who played in a basketball tourney out at Vigo Park back in the 50's. He said they had to call the tourney off mid way through because of rain.

He claims that it got too muddy to play because the games were outside.

wreckncrew-

If you need an excuse to get up to Perryton you can make a day trip out of it.

Leave early enough to get to La Casita between 5:30 - 10:30, then go to Lake Fryer and walk around it, followed by lunch at Dixie Dog (also in Perryton, a nasty good hamburger place). Also in August they have something called the Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration. They have a parade, cheap barbque, demolition derby, rodeo etc. It is always a pretty fun time.

There are also a few good places in Canadian. There is steak house right off of main street that is good (can't remember the name). Also there is an old filling station they turned into a restraunt, not too shabby. I don't know if Ma Beasley's Donuts are still there, but they were also awesome back in High School.

Report:

Last night I ate at the Lobo Restaurant at Lake Fryer for the first time in many years (I just moved back to Perryton in October).

I can honestly say this - it is the best non-mexican food in the Perryton area. Will go back and I encourage others to do so.

I had the CFS - hand breaded, etc. - wasn't as good as Longhorn Tavern or CzechTex in Brazos Valley area - but still better than anything in this area. May have been cooked a bit long - will eat again and anticipate it might even be better next time.

FIL and MIL had cheeseburgers - they claim they are 1/3 lb - but they are hand made patties and were easily 1/2 lb. Really good. Definitely the best burgers in this area.

My wife had the catfish buffet - not great. There simply aren't enough people eating there to have a buffet imo. When they brought out fresh catfish when we were leaving - looked much better.

Just thought I would share that with others. If food is that good, I plan to eat there weekly.

Well, I am going back home this weekend for the Baylor game and some of the food I miss. Madden's, Layne's, Wings n More and Los Nortenos breakfast burritos are calling my name. I can't wait.

We are also staying at the LaSalle in downtown Bryan.
