For things to do:
The first Saturday in May is the Pioneer Day Parade. They also have the rodeo and other events as well.
If you don't mind a little drive, the third Saturday of June, July, August, and September there is the Dance Platform in Lipscomb, Texas. I've yet to make it to this, but I've heard many good things about it. See
http://naturallyyourstx.tripod.com/id17.htm.
There's a 4th of July Parade in Gruver every other year. After the parade, there is a barbecue in the park followed by a full afternoon of events. It alternates each year with Spearman, but for some really perverse reason, Spearman didn't bother with theirs last year.
If you're Lutheran, there is Oslo Lutheran Church about 20 miles south of Guymon. Turn right at the state line just before you get to the windmills and follow the highway until you see the church a mile to the west.
In July each year, there is a rib cookoff benefit on a ranch in Hansford County. Be prepared to make a donation. If you want, there is an auction as well. Bring your own lawn chair. Here are pictures from 2007, 2008, and 2009:

http://hscharlie.gruver.net/gruverarea/08_stavlobenef/index.htm, and
http://hscharlie.gruver.net/gruverarea/09stavlobenefit/index.htm. I'm not sure how extensive the invitation is, but I think it is generally to people of Hansford County, especially Gruver, and to anyone who attends Oslo Lutheran Church.
In late July to early August each year, there is a folk music festival in Mobeetie, Texas. There is camping available. Bring your own lawn chair.
