It's certainly not metroplex.

Northeast North Central North Texas.

The High Plains stop at the Caprock, about 30 miles east of Lubbock. The Rolling Plains are next, and usually considered in the Panhandle/South Plains.

I think Bowie is more in the Blackland or Post Oak Belt.....I used to know all those areas, but soils classes were a long time ago...


But I know what you mean, there is a gap between the Metromess and Childress that doesn't really fit any TexAgs region.

I think Bowie is considered Post Oak Belt. I guess it would only apply to about 0.01% of TexAgs posters.

have been arguing with a guy on another thread about witchita falls....I would say that it's in west Texas along with the panhandle and the south plains, (and other regions).

I think of west Texas as a large area that is/can be further divided into smaller more specific regions.

I knew a few of the Spikes family and played some mean 7th grade basketball there, but that was about it.

As someone who lived near Bowie for 6 years, and currently living in Lubbock for the last 8 I would say it is not West Texas. I consider it North Central Texas, same as towns like Gainesville (where I also lived for 12 years).
