Anybody up to a hike to Lighthouse Rock Friday April 16th? I will be in Amarillo that Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to attend the induction of a good friend into the Sandie Hall of Fame. I have reserved Friday for the hike to the Lighthouse. Due to ol' Father Time, it will probable my last visit to the Rock --- and, truth be known, it would be nice to have someone along just in case I need help.

By the way, I am one of the two guys from Amarillo (and A&M) who climbed the Lighthouse in 1960. It will be a (last time) memory trip for me.

If you can wait until Saturday or Sunday, I'd be honored to hike with you.

Got to be in Levelland late Friday night to see my Brat Sister for the weekend. Otherwise, I would appreciate your company Saturday or Sunday in the Canyon.

Looks like you may have to put off your hike tomorrow. All the weather dudes are calling for rain and I'd be willing to bet the trail wouldn't be easy if you tried.

You were right. Hit rain about Childress and it rained all the way to Amarillo --- then rained in Amarillo until I left for the level land of Levelland--- then rained all the time in Levelland --- and then rained all the way back to Fort Worth Sunday. I learned 55 years ago that Palo Duro Canyon is not a good hiking place after/during rain.
