Had the unpleasant time of attending a funeral a week or two back.

Weather in the morning was nice, crisp, but little wind. Go to the funeral and the graveside, the wind was blowing about 30 and it was cold as hell. Once we got back to the house, the wind died down and it was a nice day.

Seems like the weather always sucks at the graveside.

I remember some pretty cold one's up on the Cap. Wind that would blow right through you, cold and wet.

It always made the austerity of the funeral a little more real.

Like you were suffering while honoring their life.

And I am sorry to hear about your Grandmother. Glad she lived so long.

Thanks. She was 93 and lived alone at home until a week or so before she passed. We should all be so lucky.

How many of those years were in that County ?

I actually do have some old pics. She passed them out to the kids a few years back and I scanned the ones I could find. I'll see about posting some.

The contraption in the background is an oil drilling rig. Looks a whole lot like the one on the floor of the PPH Museum here in Canyon.

Wouldn't you love to have any of the toys or cars in the photos? When I was a kid looking at old photos, I was always disappointed when they only showed a little bit of the old cars and tractors. Of course, they didn't think the cars were interesting, just the people.

When I take photos today, I try to include both.

It always amazes me how much dirt there was. Many of my family pics from the era was the same way. No grass, no weeds, just dirt.
