114 through Seymour (Go Panthers) to Guthrie to Lubbock to see major ranch land burn (most of Moorhouse, Pitchfork, Spike Box and 6666 ranches burned). Come back 84-I20 to see all the electricity generator windmills around Hermileigh-Synder-Roscoe-Abilene.
Mary's in Strawn x2. Their 'small' CFS is more than most folks can eat, and its pan-fried instead of deep fried. Definitely worth the 4 mile drive north of I20.
Harolds BBQ and Sharon Allen's BBQ in Abilene, Skeet's Texas Grill in Merkel and Sweetwater, Big Boys BBQ in Sweetwater, The Shack in Snyder are all good choices too.
I've stopped at New York hill and the Smokestack. Both were good but personally I thought the food was just a little better at New York Hill. If you're making a roundtrip, do both. Going east, eat at the Smokestack, going west New York Hill. (No particular reason for the direction other than they are on opposite sides of the highway and this way you just exit rather than having to make a turn around.)
It's just another Corps trip boys, we'll march in behind the band.
