Does anyone know of any good fishing holes around Amarillo? I have considered some of the ponds in the city but would like to find something better.

I've seen people at Medi-Park lake in Amarillo, and at Southeast Park in Canyon, and Amarillo's southeast park. Most of the local lakes (Umbarger, Merideth, Mackenzie) are so blooming low as to be useless, or completely dry (Umbarger)

Might call the marina at MacKenzie and see if anything is biting. At least it would be a pretty drive.

if it's for you, the pickings are bad to worse.

The pond in greenways was really good last year for catfish and big carp, but between super hot water temps killing them off, and the red necks finding out (really, you are keeping a cooler with 20 carp in it?) it's pretty useless now.

THe best is probably southeast park in canyon, but that's mostly bluegill, tiny bass, turtles and the random holdover trout.

McClellan used to be my favorite, or Conchas

McClellan is way down. I was just out there yesterday scouting some camp sites four scout pack.

Basically there is some water by the dam, some dry land in the middle and a little water back to the west.
