Anyone have any opinions on Mac Thornberry? The first time I paid attention at all to him was when i saw he was one of the few Texas Republicans who voted yes on the fiscal cliff bill. I think it's ironic that we are tied for the MOST conservative districts in the nation yet he is one that voted yes. Of course, the tinfoil hat guy in me says he was picked by leadership to vote yes since he is "safe" in reelection. has ever had any serious challenges in the primary? What would it take to get him replaced do you think?

Nobody is beating Thornberry. None of the Republicans that voted for the deal enjoyed doing it, but they all did it out of a conviction that it will leave them better positioned to demand cuts, now that the self-expiring Bush tax bill is no longer in place for Democrats to use as leverage. Prior to the deal, the Democrats could say: "Don't want to raise taxes? Fine, do nothing and they will go up anyway." Now, they don't have that card to play.

Mac could be wrong about whether or not that was the right move, but he could very well be right, too, and he did it for the right reasons.

Four?? Isnt it our Texas tradition to call him Cuatro??

And there is no way in Hell that he will beat Mac. No matter if he gets his name right or not.
