Does anyone contract or know of anyone that does land work in the Lubbock (Morton) area? We have some CRP land in the area that we cannot work ourselves from Houston. Any help is appreciated.

Interested in leasing it for grazing or break out in farming?

I am not sure about that, I am researching for my parents, I will check it out and let you know.

Right now we would likely consider any variation since we didn't get the place bid into CRP last year. Options are a) place in CRP again (and all that entails), 2) lease out for grazing or 3) break out for farming.

From my recollection, we only had one irrigation well when it went into CRP in mid-80's. Had some sand production problems so you might have to look at dry land farming if you broke it out. Circa 400+ acres; northwest of Needmore.

It's a bit far for me. What kind of grass? Native mix or bluestem crp?

If its established then just put it back in CRP. That is the least mgmt. If it has to be replanted then that is a problem. It is really trying in this drought. I have some of both. IMO until we break out of this cycle , CRP is the best

I'm with 84. If the grass is good and the land won't blow I'd try to get it back in Crp. More I thought about it, this drought isn't worth it right now.
