We'll be moving to the Plainview area in the summer and are looking for a teaching gig within 45minutes or so of Plainview for my wife. She has 2 years elementary experience in Fort Worth ISD.

Anybody know districts that typically have some turnover or unfilled positions?

All I can say is start throwing out resumes. I can't think of any local town that would churn teaching positions any more or any less than others. There really isn't a transient population of professionals like you might find at a college or military town.

There are tons of little towns, all within easy driving distance of Plainview. She could be at anywhere from Tulia to New Deal, or Springlake to Floydada in 30 minutes. Lots and lots of schools.

Is the regional service center any help with things like this?

Pretty much every small town in the Panhandle has heavy teacher turnover. I'm assuming Plainview would also have some pretty good turnover.

Thanks for the info, good to hear about lots of turn over.

Canyon, she has applied through the region (lots of schools require it), but, in the city at least, it helps to reach out to specific principals. She is now in the process of blanketing the area in emails and will head up to drop off her cv in person at the more promising locations in after staar testing is over.
