My wife and I are both professional engineers. I grew up in Lubbock but moved away in 2000. We returned just three short years ago and don't know many people yet.
My wife is charged with the task of organizing the South Plains Chapter of Texas Society of Professional Engineers banquet during E-Week (February 17-23, 2019) in Lubbock. Part of the program will consist of a keynote speaker. Several people have shared with her the opinion that spouses of engineers typically don't like to attend an engineering banquet and have to listen to an engineer talk about engineering. I can't deny that is the truth.
Can any of you good Panhandle / South Plains folks offer up some ideas for a keynote speaker? Preferably someone with a west Texas background that can appeal to, inspire, and possibly motivate a bunch of nerdy engineers and their understanding spouses? Being in Lubbock, the typical fare is someone associated with Texas Tech. Surely we can do better than that!
ETA: Forgot to mention that it would be on a voluntary basis...but you'll get a free dinner!
