it's almost here!!!


Nothing like some cold weather to welcome me home for the annual event!!

Yeah, I am pretty excited. Though it will be a sad weekend. I have been hunting with the same guys for over 20 years. This past summer we lost one of the guys that puts the hunt on. He is someone that I am really missing.

lets see here... Get home on the 15th, start hunting the 16th, yep thats a good 15 solid days of pheasant hunting. My favorite time of the year.

It will be cold. It is supposed to get down to 7 in Amarillo tonight. A little better this weekend. I am hunting with a bunch of sips again this year. I should have a little better time than I did last year. We had to stop in the middle of the hunt to watch the big 12 game last year. I may request it again on Saturday just for the fun of it.

Since the season isn't open, we were on a paved road, and the bird was on a neighbor's land....we shot this one yesterday with a digital camera.

I hope you shoot a shot gun a litte farther out than you shoot a kodak or that birds tail feathers are history

It's a telephoto lens, so it looks a lot closer. I don't think they make telephoto shotgun barrells.




Also its a Canon, not a Kodak.

I probably won't be hunting, he's the only pheasant I've seen anywhere near our farm. I know the landowner has raised and released quail before, so this might be "his" pheasant, too.

what I was trying to say...is that it looks like you didn't lead him enough because I can only see the back half of the bird in your picture....

Ahhh, I get it now...and I can blame my daughter, she took the photo when I got out to make him fly. She's not used to the SLR and tele lens.

There was a party at my younger brother's shop Friday night for all the pheasant hunters. Some lawyer from Norman brought and cooked the food.

That was the by far the best Bratwust and Saurkraut I've ever eaten.

WHOOP - Lots of birds!!!

My dad told me there weren't many birds this year - but, the first place we went had ~ 100 birds!!

Has anyone hunted in the Kress/ Edmonson region. I just want to gauge whether or not I am going to get excited for the hunt, or more for the lunch at my aunt's house

Is the season over? If not, when does it end? I haven't been yet this year. The last few years I have gone (Dimmitt/Hereford area) we have gotten our limit by lunch time.

Season lasts till end of December - daily limit is 3 birds.

I was about 14 miles to the West at Hart. We killed 65 on the opening day. There were plenty of birds. And big birds too.

You should have a good hunt.
