Haven't got to play the course yet, but it looks awesome. Drove by it the other day. I can't believe how many big houses are out there now. Has that pretty much become the place to be in Amarillo as far as upper end housing goes?
its definitely the most expensive per sq. foot to live. it has alot to do w/ the fact of all of the extra costs in the foundational work, rocks, not working on a flat plane, etc. there are some monsters out there and some of the most expensive homes as well. it is a very nice course but very challenging. i love playing it but my favorite everyday course is still ACC.
Hows it being cared for? Havent been back in over two years. Tell the superintendent at Ross Rogers, ACC, and TCC that Stump said Hi.
Hit it straight and its not that hard of a course. Very short, leave the driver in the bag. You might find the course easier if your play from the black tees. Keeps most of the trouble out of the way.
i am assuming Paloma. you are correct on leaving the drivers in the bag. its still in pretty good condition, not as good as it was 2 years ago. some ownership changes have happened and they are not putting the same amount of money back in. dont get me wrong, its still great just not at the level that it once was IMHO.
good work - fun course to take folks to from out of town.

I played La Paloma at least once a week last summer and I still consider it one of the more difficult courses I've played. I do well on the front nine but everything after #10 kills me.
The late summer rains made for some very good course conditions.
Just alittle more Aggie touch. The design on the remodel of the front nine and the total design of the back is by an Aggie, with the exception of a few "field adjustments" on number 11. Dozed 20 foot of rock out of that fairway, we never saw that coming, useful for the waterfalls and retaing walls. Glad you like it. Glad its being kept up.
Since my career change, I havent been back home to Amarillo. Someday soon, I hope.
I've played there probably 100's of times. We used to play it once or twice a week back when I was on the golf team. We were also members at Tascosa until '99, and the front nine of Paloma was part of Tascosa back then.
My parents are building out there, and I've played it twice since construction began. Still in good shape, and an extremely fun course. I always play my best when I go back home to Amarillo.
