My sister has been here the last few days. She brought her grandson with her. He's about a 3rd or 4th grader in elementary school in a central Texas city and has been off for their spring break.
He loves it here!
It turns out that this is the first place he's ever been where he can go out by himself. At his home, he can't even leave the yard without an adult present because of all the registered sexual predators living in the area and because of all the traffic.
It was interesting to his his reaction at being able to walk down the street from the office to the Dairy Queen and back by himself, about a quarter mile each way. That was the first time he's ever been able to do that and he couldn't stop talking about it.
And he could go out and play with other kids after they got out of school without having an adult watching out for him.
