I am going to be living in Lubbock for the summer and was wondering if anyone could recommend a place that is close to the university and offers summer leases. Thanks.

Some of those new McDougal properties East of campus probably have summer leases.

My advice is to stay away from Garrett Properties.

I have a friend that represents McDougal and understand that they have a good reputation.

The Tech message board Raiderpower.com has a few incredible jerks...and lots of nice folks, especially if you stay on fluff subjects, and don't run down Tech.

If you have a thick skin and a sense of humor, go over there and ask the same question. You don't have to grovel, but avoid being a jerk and you'll get some good and polite responses.

I'll second Canyon's suggestion of asking over on RaiderPower. I lurk there from time to time and post every now and then, and I've been treated exceedingly well. The RaiderPower guys and I have agreed that internet message boards tend to bring out the worst in both fan bases, and I think the bad rep Tech gets primarily stems from a rowdy segment of students and message board posters. I know lots of good folks that are Red Raiders, and I've found that there are plenty of good people over there on RaiderPower.

When I'm over there, I operate by the adage that you don't run down another man while you're in his house. I consider myself a guest on RaiderPower, and I behave as such. I also don't mind a little teasing about being an Aggie (heck, I've been known to make fun of myself plenty of times).
