I left TAMU 21 years ago and have probably made it to 30 home games in the intervening years. Every one has been as good as it was when I was a student.

It sucks, but after you grow up, other things come before Aggie football. From my POV, it does make you enjoy it even more when you can get to a game.

Gig 'em!

I made it down to College Station at 2:00 today and am camping in Penberthy parking lot. This time with the kids. That puts on a different spin on Aggie football as well.

I know what you mean; yesterday was the first time that I really felt like a Former Student. It was sad. I think LyonAg is right, though.

But I definitely can't wait to make it down there later this season.

As soon as the schedule is announced, I immediately get out the calendar and try to find the date to get back for a game. With any luck I will get to at least one road and one home game this year. You gotta have priorities.

it gets easier. The first season when you're away is a killer.

What brings you out here?

I just graduated and got a job out here in july...I work 4am to 8am saturday mornings so taking a road trip is pretty much out of the question.

...i know priorities change but right now its pretty much work and all things aggie still. I was a fish camp counselor, on traditions council, worked at the MSC hotel all that jazz so I went from a&m 24/7 (like everyone else) to watching youtube videos of campus when I get all ol army nostalgic.

Dont get me wrong, amarillo is great so far..and I can't wait to get even more connected into it. I did buy my ticket for the tech game and can't wait for it to roll around!

Have you been to a Lubbock game yet? If not try not to have anything on your car that says Aggie. My truck has been keyed twice in the parking lot. Yeah I should have learned the first time. This year we will be taking the wifes car as she is a raider.

wxag said he'd been to every game for four years so he's aquainted well aquainted with the raider fans in Lubbock.

I made every football game for four years too and I can tell you, if your schedule changes, you'll find that the road trips to OU and OkState are much closer and easier to make than the long drive from CS.

Best of luck with the withdrawals. It will make you appreciate more every trip back to Aggieland and every road trip you can make. There are things that are more important than Aggie football, but they are few and far between.

From Amarillo, every North Division road trip is better than going to Lubbock and dealing with those tech people.

I know, I grew up there, went to undergrad there, and then law school. I went to nearly every game from 1983 until 1996 when my wife was pregnant with the twins and we got heckled on the way in and the way out. It was a little over the top on what they were saying to a women who was 7 months pregnant. My earlier experiences were worse though.

I was in Varsity Bookstore the other day, not realizing what I was wearing (standard A&M flipflops, and a blue Ring Dance shirt) and as i was leaving some tceh tards behind me kept repeating "Go back to College Station." Since I was on my cell phone I didn't hear it until it was fairly loud.

I wanted to knock that guy in the face.

I know who you are! We talked for a while at the Aggie picnic at Sam Houston Park.

Hang in there. My DH and I (both Class of '84) didn't get back to A&M much for YEARS (military, stationed out of state) until our oldest started at A&M last fall. Now we're down there at least three times a semester. I feel as though I'm going home every time we go.
