How long do you want to ignore this user?
Do military flights still land at Reese AFB? I know it closed in '97, so I'm assuming its just sitting there, but is it used at all?

Thanks.

Only day runs on touch and goes. Other than that they are now turning it into a technology center(or trying to). It is still listed as an emergency back up runway, day time only.

so military personnel cannot count on that as a destination?

The closest base/post for military flights would be? Hood? Sill?

Closest AFB to Lubbock is Cannon AFB at Clovis, 90 miles away.

However, Amarillo's airport is often used as a stop over for military pilots, to fuel up and eat. I suppose they could do the same at Lubbock's airport.

Are you trying to see if someone can get a "space available" ride, or what?

Yes. I had told him that Reese was open, but apparently I'm wrong. We're just looking to see cheap alternatives...and Southwest has discontinued service between here and Louiseville

I guess it all depends on how desperate you are. If they could get into Clovis, that's only 90 minutes. The next closest would probably be Shepherd in Wichita Falls, then Altus, Ok, 2.5 to 3 hours away.

Next, Dyess in Abilene, 3 to 3.5 hours.

Or Tinker in Oklahoma City or Albuquerque (whatever the heck that base is), both about 5 hours.

I was looking at Southwest's flight schedule. They won't sell you a ticket from Louisville KY to Lubbock.

But I'd bet you can buy one from KY to Dallas, and another ticket from Dallas to Lubbock.

It also appears to me that there is no current Louisville-Lubbock service, but they plan to begin service in December.

well, this all appears to be a moot point now, because the Army isn't telling him his schedule more than a week ahead of time, which makes scheduling a visit damn near impossible. A rendezvous in Dallas could happen...

So you are saying Southwest will start service to Louiseville from Lubbock again in December? If so, that is another bit of proof that God is in fact, against me. (I keed, I keed) We won't need a direct flight past December! sheesh.

Thanks Canyon.
