I grew up running trotlines up and down the Rio Grande with my grandfather. We would get in the old blazer and run up and down FM 170 blaring the mexican stations from OJ,neither of us knew much espanol but we gave it hell.

For me, there are few things that make me happier than sitting on the tailgate (after a good dove hunt) with some friends and my wife whilst watching a storm in the Chinati mountains. The smell of creosote after a rain is next to heaven.

We buried my grandfather on a point overlooking the Rio Grande. If you travel down FM 170 from Presidio, roll your windows down just about the time you cross Alamito Creek, find a good Norteno station/song with lots of accordion and give it hell. That'd probably make him smile.
