Ok dove hunters...whens the best time during the season for dove around Angelo?

in my back yard off of powerlines. seriously, in mid september i can get a limit w/ two shots.


really though, they are there pretty solid through mid-august on. I hunt more in the abilene area, but I see them just about as much around angelo.

where you hunting at in particular around there?

Got 100's of them around my house right now. I don't shoot them though. I am currently looking for a spot to hunt opening day. I have the first weekend wrapped up North of Abilene, but if either of you have an extra spot I would love to come meet and shoot on Monday...

I don't get to hunt till that thursday and friday sadly.

Having opening day assigned to a calendar day instead of just the friday before labor day is a crock of ****.

Yeah I have a place just north of Carlsbad that I hunt, its right on the river with about 30 pecan trees....Last season I could have got double my limit if I had hit everything I was shooting at...lol. I am in CS right now and am just trying to figure out a good weekend to come down.

I think I have it worked out now anyway. Hunting East of Angelo on the first and hunting in Haskell Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday...

i'll be in stamford thursday friday saturday and sunda as well. they fly straight and true up north.

Anyone have an opening on a lease or land I could hunt on? or just need a hunting buddy? Just moved out to San Angelo in June...

It may be a little far, but call Johnny Middleton in Big Spring. He leases day hunts north of there.

i wanna say you may be able hunt out at the eq west of town. check w/ the DPW

opening day is today because the damn feds say that the 1st of sep is the earliest you can open. thanks to the state of texas for opening it now and not later this week.

_89, Thanks for the information, but I already hooked up with an ag, class of '03, to hunt with out here. He has some family land, and invites me whenever he goes.

I won't lie though... I would probably jump all over that if it was little cheaper; Just to have a place I could go whenever I wanted.

Do you know if this is possible? or have someone I could contact? I am also now on the search for a deer lease in a good 1-2 hr vicinity of the city as well.
