The Lubbock A&M Club will not be hosting the traditional Feed the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band BBQ or selling game tickets for the A&M vs. Texas Tech football game in Lubbock on October 24, 2009. This decision was made after consultations between the Lubbock A&M Club, Lubbock area event officials, and officials with the FTAB. University-wide budget constraints, efforts to reduce costs for FTAB travel and accommodations, as well as reduced BBQ and game attendance, are major reasons for this year's change. Opportunities for the Lubbock area BBQ in support of the FTAB, as well as the sale of game tickets, will certainly be pursued for future football games in Lubbock.

Midnight Yell will still be hosted by the Lubbock A&M Club at the Mackenzie Park Amphitheater the night before the game.

Does this mean the FTAB will not be in Lubbock for the game?

AG80, the band WILL be in Lubbock for the game, but they are not spending the night there. They will be heading back to College Station immediately after the game.

I don't blame them, I wouldn't want to spend the night there either, and that is not just because Lubbock is a dump.

I enjoyed the BBQ and hospitality they had the two years we went to Lubbock when I was in the bad...that's too bad.

However from the game experiences we witnessed with the fans, I can see how that could be another reason...

sad end to the tradition....but hopefully it will be back some day. I would imagine everyone understands. I was in the band and it was pretty much the only highlight to the trip. I'll tip my cap again to all those who helped us out always

Thanks so much p-wonk and CATAGBQ. The Feed the Band bbq was one of our favorite activities... we loved providing a meal and a "safe haven" for the FTAB. I hope we can revive it someday.
