I love it, but I'm a native.

I don't know how the night life is other than everytime I'm at The Bar it's packed with 20-somethings.

And 40-somethings.

Rebel, I've been here since '89, haven't done the bar/singles scene in a very long time. As mentioned "The Bar" is a popular spot for 20 somethings, there other places like Buffaloe Wild Wings, etc. There are other options in Odessa (20 miles away) too. We have most of the major resturant chains here, we just have one of each instead of 10 like DFW or Houston. There alot of good local restuarants too. High School football is huge out here, Midland Rockhounds Baseball (Oakland A's Double A), this is actually alot of fun with a first class facility. If you come here just give it time and you will probably love it. I grew up on the Gulf Coast, went to A&M and lived in the DFW area for six years after college. Midland is my favorite of all those places. If you get an apartment, you will probably want to live on the loop. We have an active A&M club too. Golf tournament every year and they meet for happy hour somewhere everymonth. Softball leagues run almost year round, lots of young adults there. There are quit a few churches with active young single adult classes that are active.
Let me know if you have any more specific questions.
Oh yea, if you are a hunter, you will love west texas.

That pretty well sums it up. I grew up here, pretty much gave up getting back after 15 years in Tarrant County (hence the handle), and got very lucky a couple of years ago with an opportunity I couldn't refuse.

It's a great place to live, IMO.

What Midland Aggie said, but at the same time make sure you remember...you are in an oilfield town.

If I may butt in...

Our preferences in schools may differ but, I reckon you like to have fun just the same. Coming from a 24yr old in Midland, you may like it initially(as I did)...only to tire of it rather quickly.

For our age group, the guy/girl ratio seems to be 4/1 at the least. "The Bar" is the twenty-something hangout spot on the weekends, as mentioned before, and is just about the only bar worth your time. "The Ranch" is a decent joint and has live music every weekend but, you'll see a mixed bag of attendees there.

I've found San Angelo to have about 5 times the entertainment value(women too) that this place does, which might help put things in perspective.

Also of note, it's a different kind of hot out here. Windy and bone dry. Cost of living, as you might expect or know, is rather high. A small, 1br apt ran me 900.00 a month.

All that said, if you've got a buddy or two in Lubbock, the drive is only about 1.5 hrs.

I find myself leaving town heading north or east damn near every weekend. Just thought I would shine some light on your question. A job is a job and I'm not so sure I'd turn one away simply due to location these days.

Best of luck to you.

If you are not married and are looking, do not come. Otherwise, you would probably like it.
