The b-i-l recently gave me a book to read about an escape from a Jap prison camp in WW2.

The main character in the book was Ed Dyess from Albany. The book was "Escape From Davao". I'm not sure if fossilag has covered this guy in any of his west Texas posts, but if you like military history and west Texas, you'll enjoy the story. The book is a pretty good read. It describes some pretty horrific abuses, so I would suggest an adult read it before giving it to a young child. It appears that he was one of the greatest of the greatest generation.

The wiki link to Ed Dyess.
