And, the requisite "I used to live in Abilene". Never ventured to the Petroplex - list similarities/differences with Abilene.

Honestly ... dryer & flatter.
Abilene people are good folks just as Midland/Odessa folks.
Midland has a 4-5% unemployment rate right now.

But it is still Midland/Odessa... the place folks leave on weekends to come to Angelo.

Just saying....

Hey EMc77,
Someone new to San Angelo was asking where to watch the BB game tonight.

Mentioned to one of the other new to San Angelo people on the San Angelo thread - BWW. I'm heading up there about 7. Check it out if you want more info.

Loudest, sorry, not over on this board much. Couldn't have helped anyway as I haven't lived in Angelo since 2004. Did live there over 37 years before I moved to the hills...

Sorry, I just figured they could all hang out at your place.

First of all, Midland is not to be grouped with Odessa. Midland is far greater than Odessa.
When leaving town for the weekend, you go to DFW, SA, Ruidosa, not San Angelo. haha
To the OP, Midland is a great place to live, not much for young single adults, great place to raise a family.

@ Midland Aggie:

exactly. Kids leave here the second they can after high school, and I don't blame them. But a LARGE amount of them end up moving back a bit later in life once they get married and have kids. many get tired of the rat race of the bigger cities. Midland is small enough to get around quick and be safe, but large enough to have alot of things a small town doesn't. Overall, not a bad place at all. I've enjoyed my almost 20 years here.

Thanks for all the thoughts on Midland. I got a job offer north of Austin in Cedar Park, so not looking in that area any longer.

They have building hotels and apartments like crazy for the last few years. But on occasion there is never enough.
