Howdy,

I'll be moving to El Paso in June. I should be there for a few years and I am considering buying a home.

Does anybody have any suggestions about El Paso hot spots(real estate, not temperature)? I'm having trouble finding reputable homebuilders.

I'm also looking for a new development. I'd like to get in on an earlier phase of construction.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Depending where you are going to work the hottest areas will be the far west or far east. I'm not as familiar with the East Side but there is a bunch of new developments around the Zaragosa Rd. area. On the West Side look around the Redd Rd. - Artcraft Rd. area and the Upper Valley around Artcraft Rd. Also, the Coronado and Mission Hills areas are older but have seen nice appreciation over time.

i would definitely suggest the redd road/artcraft area - if you're looking for a newly developing area. i guess it depends on where you'll be working (or spending your time), but i would suggest the westside. if you'll be on the eastside, look around the zaragosa area.

Yes, I would suggest avoiding El Taco like the plague. If you must go and buy, buy on the west side and get as close to the Coronado country club as you can get.

Good luck,

upper valley/el paso country club area is nicer. a little more pricey, but definitely the better of the two clubs (coronado vs. epcc)

Screw New Development. El Paso Construction Companies tend to build one type of home; cheap, big, and ugly. In addition, they typically reproduce the same five floor plans, over and over, even in the "nice" neighborhoods. Just my opinion, but I really enjoy the homes in an area called Kern Place, a historic neighborhood with a great deal of character, has some of the best schools, parks, and night life nearby in El Paso. Their are quite a few homes up for sale right now
