was told to take 290 and pick up 10 on the other side of San Antonio, then 349 into Terrell County. What I need to know is where is the closest major chain grocery store (preferably HEB) to Sanderson along that route. I need to pick up fajita meat and I don't want to carry it that far in the car, or have to use an ice chest.

Probably something in Fort Stockton but I guarantee it will not be an H-E-B.

The last H-E-B on your route will probably be in Fredericksburg.

Don't forget you are headed to West Texas, an ice chest at the last H-E-B in the Hill Country will probably be your best bet.

Oops I meant Sonora or Ozona and there may be an H-E-B there.

Just checked and the closest H-E-B's are in Del Rio and San Angelo. I am sure Ozona or Sonora will have a pretty decent grocery store for fajitas.

Have you checked to see how far either DelRio or Angelo is from Sanderson? Long way to shop for groceries. There are some IGA stores in Ozona and Sonora, but that isn't close either.

Of course I remember people coming in from Big Lake ( 80 miles ) to WalMart or HEB and buy a month's supply of groceries. Does make it hard for fresh produce though.

Good luck in your move.

I'm not moving, I'm just visiting. And there are places in town to get tortillas, tomatoes, stuff like that, but they want the pre-seasoned fajita meat from HEB. So I wanted to see if there's one on my way, since I'm the only one not in Terrell County.

I think they said Del Rio was ~2.5 hours away, and Fort Stockton about an hour.

I think it'll just be easiest to buy them here and take an ice chest. It's only 6 hours.

Kerville is home base for HEB. I'm sure you can find one there.

Ooops
Wasn't looking at the date of your posts. You probably already made this trip.
