Hey, what do you all think of all those wind turbines?

I don't want to get involved in this pissing match but I'd be upset if my neighbor put several of those on his land. Yes, he/she would have every right to do so. Thankfully, I just drive through the Sweetwater/Wingate area and do not live there permanently. It is a sad visual to see this once beautiful area turned into something that resembles a sci-fi movie.

I don't understand how anyone in their right mind can compare it to highline wires or fencing.

What about the Drilling Rig/Pump Jack analogy?

Equipment used to harness a natural resource seems like a pretty good match to me.

what is your solution to our energy problems? increase nuclear production? drill for more oil? work on wind and solar solutions to improve their efficiency?

I'll go back and read it, but it seems odd that out of 6 pages of rambling rhetoric in a 13 page document that he can't make any significant points.

his points are real significant.

we need alternative forms of energy...but to waste billions and billions of dollars on a technology that every other country who has tried it gave up on it is, well, stupid.

and, when we destroy our beautiful Texas landscape in the process of doing something stupid, which we pay out the ying-yang for then we deserve the significant repurcussions of doing so...

and, well intentioned people like you power biscuit, won't understand until the damage is done...

And, a 400 foot turbine that is noisy and unnatural is in no way a comparable to a pump jack or drilling rig...that is just ignorant.

and, unfortunatly, every expert from this Country to China and in between has told me that nuclear, at this point, seems to be the only alternative,

what is your "real" problem with wind generators...

I'm guessing he doesn't like them messing with the landscape and he believes they are a waste of money.

You have been pretty busy if you talked to every expert from here to China.

I will bet you $100 that a windmill is not as noisy as an irrigation well motor....(natural gas, not the electric type)

I have not had an opportunity to read through all the post in this thread, but if I may ask, whom here is in the Energy business?

I will start:

I am in Account Management/LC&I Sales for a company that is the largest purchaser of the Wind Power generated between Abilene and Midland.

Lack of Transmission, Cost of Transmission Build-Out, Tax Incentives, Wind Credits and Liberal Politicians are the biggest factors and drivers in this arena.......Unfortunately, Supply and Demand do not rule in this part of our Industry.

we're getting about a half dozen built out here west of Albany right now. I don't mind a few but I've never seen it were they stop at a few. I guess it will look like it does south of Sweetwater or around Justiceburg in a few years.

I have been damn busy...but, I will tell you, I am about to give up...I was hired by people all around this great State who know that this wind tubine crap is the great raping of America...some others, with intelligence and integrity who have looked at it long and hard need to stand up, too....

The Great Raping of America?????

You know who used rhetoric like that? Stalin, Hitler, Kim.

I'd say the great raping would be the failing social system that my generation will have to pay because your politicians didn't keep up with it, and the "war" in Iraq that I'll be paying for in 10 years.
