So I'll be stuck in Hell Paso on Dec. 28th. Does anyone know where I good spot would be to watch the A&M v. Cal game? I don't know anything about El Paso's A&M Hometown club, or if they even have one.

TIA.

Email this guy scouterstu@sbcglobal.net...El Pish**e is the capital of 2%'s so don't expect much but Stu will let you know if anything is planned...the club used to have their monthly meetings on the first Wed. of the month at Cappetto's on Montana at high noon but I don't know if they still do or not.

Will you post what you find out here for the rest of us?

Stu Roberts, c/o '78 says they don't have anything lined up, but will put out feelers to see what interest there is. Apparently attendance in the past has been on the decline.

If anyone is interested, old Ags (and I do mean old) are meeting at Monteleone's restaurant on Gateway West this Thursday (Dec. 7) at around 6:30 p.m.. Hopefully we can set up a Holiday Bowl gathering. The grub is good and the place is owned by an Aggie.

What are you doing here in El Paso?

I am a regular attender of the El Paso lunch at Cappetto's every first Wednesday of the month. Typically it is about 10-15 people, although it has been as high as 30. I went to the one on Thursday night once, which is also the first Thr of every month. It is mostly older guys, with a couple of us young guys around. Stu is cool, and owns one of those pack and mail type places in Cruces, a couple of the guys are lawyers, a few retired Army guys, and otherwise various businesses are represented. I have a good time. If you are interested, drop a line at mo8378@yahoo.com or call me @ 525-9496. My name is Matt

I myself will be in my hometown of Lubbock. A couple of the guys were talking about doing something, Stuart and a guy named Louis, but it seemed as if a bunch of guys will be out of town. If you email Stu he will be the one that can tell you if there is enough interest in a get together. I will be at the next group meeting in Jan at Cappettos, however. The club needs all the support it can get, as I am sure you know this is a very transient city for a lot of folks, and turnover of the core group I used to see has led to some attrition.

As mentioned earlier, I already emailed Stu and he said interest has wanned significantly over the last several months. I don't think anyone will be getting together.

Michael Davis '98 has informed me that his father Ed Davis '67 (not the Capetto's Ed), has been named interim President of Texas A&M University. Michael Davis '98 and his wife, Dr. Annette Davis '99, '04 have lived here in El Paso for a couple of years but he is originally from College Station, TX. His father, Dr.Ed Davis '67 holds three degrees from TAMU. - Congratulations -Whoop!!

Don't let Edward Davis fool you. He's really a miner booster in disguise. You should have seen how upset he was when A&M hired BG away from utep.

I would be too, if a big popular school was taking away the best UTEP sports has had since the 'Bear.
