AND Munday has Smith's Drugs....or used to, is it still there? We used to eat at Dairy Queen after church on Sundays. They put out a buffet like you'd find at your Grandmas. The only DQ I ever saw do that...

TechTard, are you from Munday?

My family comes from Munday and Weinert, so I'll second the sentiment of this thread that Munday and Weinert rule supreme.

My dad told me that, back in the olden days, the Munday/Knox City rivalry caused some violence every now in then, and on more than one occasion there were some folks shooting at each other out on Highway 222 between the towns.

Squid, Smith Drug is still open. I generally hear their ads on KVRP whenever I'm in Stamford. And you're right about the Munday Dairy Queen. It's by far the best Dairy Queen that I've ever been to, I've partaken in their lunch buffet on more than one occasion.

Nope, I'm not. But where I'm from, Goree was once a very hated enemy. A fight between the two schools years ago is one of the reasons we have fences around the football fields.

Well then, if you had a rivalry with Goree, then I'm really curious to know where you're from.

Megargel? Crowell? Harrold?

I have harvested wheat at Goree and unloaded wheat at the elevator in Bomarton.

WTA, you are warm, but you're shooting a bit high.

Since I'm "shooting high", you must mean I'm too far north, so...Newcastle, Throckmorton, or Woodson?

Didn't know the Burd was once a wheatie. Wildcat did a summer on a combine; Vernon (Waggoners), Leoti/Johnson City KS, Strasburg, CO, and the Crow Indian reservation, MT.

Good times, hard work and life lessons for a 16yr old.

I did Seymour, TX, Texhoma, TX, Tribune, KS, Ogalalla, NE, and Martin, SD. 3 summers worth. Great experience.

I was a wheatie for a little while. Except after KS, I headed south to catch some of the milo harvest.

BTW, Gleaner > John Deere.

I worked for my uncle one summer harvesting wheat from Rule over to Haskell, up to Weinert and Mattson, and then as far east as Truby. He had all the business he could handle just cutting wheat for himself and his long-time customers in Haskell County. I got to run the combine a few times, but I was mainly the grain cart operator. Long, long, long hours, but good times. A sandwich always tastes better when you're eating it sitting on the tailgate of a pickup out in the middle of a field.

We ran Massy 860s in '88. Back then a 30 ft. platform was a big deal, 'eh.

The old man has an L2. I'll be giving him some crap about the "silver seeder" when I see him next.

My grandparents on both sides live in Haskell, as does most of the rest of my family. I'm kin to about half of Haskell and Weinert in some way, shape, form, or fashion, I think.

My dad did some custom harvesting locally around Hays county. We had a Massey 410, then a 760, and later an 860. My brother still runs the 860. When I was on harvest in the midwwest, we ran 3 JD 7720's with 24' heads. Our owner didn't like hauling the larger 8820's. Said they were just too big for him to feel comfortable hauling on a trialer.

I mostly drove truck because I got bored driving circles in the field.
