Me thinks u got Angelo about 2 spots too low. Angelo is populated on the lakes by folks fleeing Ector, Midland and Taylor counties!

I'll argue that Abilene > Midland

--they aren't much, but Abilene has some hills south of town.
--when you leave town in any direction, you are not automatically in the middle of scrub desert
--We actually have some trees
--Buffalo Gap is just down the road
--Abilene High Football >> than either the Dawgs or Rebs
--Quisenberry lives in Midland now
--unless I've missed a really good one in Midland, the golf courses in Abilene are better
--we can be in DallasFW, Austin, or San Antonio faster than you guys from Midland, you got us beat though on the road to Pecos and or El Paso.
--Abilene doesn't have that giant spinning barber pole sewer water treatment shiat stinking plant right on the edge of town at the entryway to the city. But we do have those ugly azz buffalo things
--you guys got more tall buildings downtown, but we actually have tenants in ours
--Midland has a few more restaurants than Abilene, or lets say some different restaurants. We got a drive through Chik Fila now
--Downtown Abilene now has The Beehive and Cypress Street Station to compare with The Bar and Wall Street Bar & Grill - I think we're still behind in that respect, but we've closed the gap a little.

--Midland International Airport is superior in many respects to the Abilene Regional Airport, I'll grant that
--and probably the number one thing that makes Abilene greater than Midland is that our next door neighbor, just down the street is not Odessa.

And Big Spring is better than them all!!! We don't have to put up with all of the bullsh*t from the big towns and we are within 1 1/2 hours from all of you. We can cherry pick and choose what and where we want. We have the BEST MEXICAN and BARBEQUE in West Texas. We have two premier golf courses that everyone can play. We have a symphony. And last but not least, we have the friendliest people in West Texas.

Big Spring is the oasis of West Texas. A whole lot better than midland/odessa. We at least have water, trees and hills.

I'll agree that the topography is much more aesthetically pleasing in Big Spring but that is as far as I'll go. The problem is that 90% of the actual town looks like Juarez.

Both San Angelo and Abilene give me a feeling that if I ever lived there, I'd never be able to get out or escape...that being said, I hope to never live there...it's no College Station.

Midland is by far the best, and amazing how bad Odessa is seeing how close they are

I love the fact that Midland has that wastewater facility that smells like **** just as you're coming into town from East I-20.

Kind of sets the tone of the town.

I'm going to step in as probably the only one here who has spent a large amount of time in all four and give Angelo the win here.

- Greener than Midland/Odessa.
- Not in Desert
- Large River cutting through town.
- 3 Lakes w/in 20 miles.
- cheaper gas (really, check it out. http://autos.msn.com/everyday/gasstations.aspx?zip=&src=Netx)
- closer to everything worthwhile in Texas (Abilene has 90 miles towards DFW on us)
- Better Mexican food than all 3. (Validated by every Midland/Abilene/Odessite I've met.)
- Twin Mountain, Zentner's Daughter, Lowake's, and Producers
- Good BBQ in RJ's and Old time pit
- A real college recognized for academics and athletics(not ran by religious zealots that outlaw drinking and does license plate checks at bars)
- Expanding. SA has expanded more in the last 2 years than the other three have in the last 5, because of the loop.

All your loops are belonging to 306.

- Our lower end of town is segregated from the decent end and is labeled for newcomers. It's called Lake View. Avoid that area and all is well. It's not spread throughout like the others.

Others Advantages
- Midland does have MC which offers cheap classes online.
- Abilene does have the Zoo
- Odessa does have Friday Night Lights fame... for what that's worth

Odessa smells like sulfur on one side of town.

San Angelo seems to be growing at a faster rate than Midland or Abilene. Midland is a nice town, with some nice neighborhoods. The Racket Club area near Garfield and Wadley is damn nice. Midland has some awesome sports facilities with the new football and baseball fields on the west side of town. Abilene is a decent town, and is probably the best location of all of them. Tough call really, but there is no doubt Odessa is last....maybe even below Levelland! My Dad actually lived in Odessa (back in the good ole days), but moved to Lubbock when he was about 14. Really glad that I grew up near Lubbock vs. Odessa.....although I would have been at Odessa Permian from 1987-1990, which could have been a lot of fun. Mojo football is all Odessa has going for it, and now even that is sub par.

Abilene has an Aggie as mayor.

Midland is still a work in progress. Restaurants and other business' are still coming in buying up property on loop 250.

Midland is becoming the shopping hub for west texas. People used to have to go to Lubbock or DFW to shop. Not any more.

Homes are being built in the $200k to $400k range as fast as they can be built. Property values are through the roof, unemployment is below 4%.
I've been to all the cities mentioned and I find it hard to believe any are better than Midland.

As far as football goes, I respectfully disagree with the comment above.
The Eagles have had a run lately, but:
Dawgs and Rebels > Eagles and Cougars > panthers and bronchos

I can't believe this has been written yet, but Midland beats them all simply because of the women.

Before I got married, my parents lived in Midland and I used to come home to visit them during the summers. There were tons of good looking women in Midland.

Women in Midland beat all of the women in any of the towns mentioned in this thread.
