Oops, I confused Abilene with San Angelo.

It looks like your two choices are about the same. Go through Lubbock or go through Chldress.

lubbock you get divided hiway and interstate all the way, and its probably faster.

83 to Childress you get a little country, some back roads and small towns. more and better scenery. Cut a little further west from Aspermont to Jayton and you get Spur and Matador and Turkey.
