Haven't played it yet but a coworker did this last weekend. He said it was very nice and the course was in good shape.

here's a thorough review from someone i know - guess he's got some time on this hands to write all this:

"I played Tom Fazio butterfield trail w/my son yesterday....$45 plus tax,
unlimited range balls that are located on the range, super
big chipping and putting greens....greens were much slower than Bliss or
Dunes but held well and were in good shape....lots and lots of fairway
bunkers....biggest I've ever seen...they don't have sand in them but
dirt...greenside bunkers have sand...

Very similar to P.Dunes and the grass is lush...unfortunately, so is the
desert and if you miss the fairway, you often go into mounds that have some
wild flowers/plants on them and it is easy to lose a ball in them. I took 3
penalties on the front for that very reason. Shot 45 on the front, 38 on
the back w/3 holes that I three-putted from inside 25 feet. On all three, I
left my first putt 5 ft short....it was difficult to get used to the slower
greens the first 9-12 holes. Water comes into play on 3 holes, on the par 5
18th, the green is a peninsula. I went for it after a good drive, hit 5
iron on the green and two putted for birdie. If you are to the right, short,
or over the green, you have water so the safe play is to lay up to the left
if you want to guarantee a better chance at par.

Overall, nice course but for the $$$, I'd play Bliss or P.Dunes. Carts were
nice, came w/towel, bottled water, and tees on them."

Well, I played it yesterday! The description by toooombs' last post is pretty accurate. I think the course will be better the second time because I will know the layout better.

The course is in great shape. The experience isn't like anything else you will find anywhere else between San Antonio and Tuscon. The fees range between 45 and 65 on weekdays depending on where you live. I don't remember the weekend rates.

I recommend to anyone who enjoys golf to give this course a try at least once.
