bcday07 covered 'em, but you did not tell us what ya wanna do when ya get the boat in the water. Fishing, Alan Henry is the PLACE to go, 127 miles from Midland. OH Ivie would be next at approx 175 miles for Midland. Boating, Colorado City is 75 miles from Midland (if new to West Texas it is pronounced Col-a-raid-a City). The rest can be problematic. Going east will yield more lakes with more fishing possibilites.

My hometown lake, Lake Stamford, which is about 60 miles north of Abilene, is reputed to get a fair amount of boat traffic from both Lubbock and the Midland/Odessa area. I don't know much about the skiing up here, it's decent I think, but the catfish and crappie fishing is supposed to be the best in in West Texas.

I also know that Lake Brownwood gets a lot of boaters from all over West Texas.

I learned to ski on Lake Stamford. Good lake for it. Colorado City is also good for skiing.

Lake Brownwood is good. Was closed last week due to flooding, but is showing open to boating now. Check conditions:

WestTxAg - Sorry, didn't check the board for a while. I'm originally from Odessa. We moved to C.S. in '84. But I still have a lot of family out west, so I spent many a summer in Odessa.

LBJ is the way to go. Make sure to stop at Cooper's in Llano for some brisket.

Thanks and gig'em!

An Aggie buddy of mine is from Rankin, and his family has a place at Amistad, I believe.

How far of a drive is Amistad from Midland-Odessa?

Just wait until it rains a couple inches and put your boat out on A St. Or Wadley. Or Illinois. Or the Park by Soco's house.

Thanks and gig'em!
