For a place that is like K-Bob's, but not K-Bob's, try Sid and Sam's Steakhouse, located at the Southwestern corner of the intersection of University Boulevard and County Road West. They have a number of good dishes such chicken fried steak, etc. and a salad bar. Although, this is probably not a must-stop type of restaurant.

White House Meat Market, however, located on 52nd Street almost to Andrews Highway is pretty well known state-wide for their burgers. I am not real sure how late they stay open - I've only gone for lunch. It is basically a meat market with picnic tables in the middle and good fresh burgers.

BJ's is a drive-thru on Golder and 31st, where you can get a burger that is about 8" in diameter and can feed 2-3 people. There are outside tables, but no indoor dining.

Keith's Hamburger Station at 42nd and Andrews Highway has great steak fingers in addition to CFS and burgers. You order at the counter or drive thru and there is indoor dining.

Southern Velle is in Midland, but worth the drive. You can get CFS, pork chops, fried chicken, grits, mac & cheese, greens, candied yams, etc. and the waitstaff is very personable and friendly. Arthur Ray's in Odessa is similar, but you may have to check on their post-game hours.

You could try Walters on Maple at Tanglewood, it has burgers, shakes, a few Mexican dinners, chicken strips, and a healthy menu for those on a diet. The service can be so-so at times, but for a fancier Dairy Queen with an expanded menu, you can't expect a red carpet.

If you find yourself at Parkway at 42nd, there is Pizza Patron and Jersey Girl Pizza. Jersey Girl is excellent and a good price, but Pizza Patron has $5 pizzas.

Rosa's Cafe is also at that intersection, and is an Odessa favorite. But, if you want Mexican, let me send you to a good place.

Average Guy, so what did you end up doing restaurant wise. Curious what you found and where you went. I grew up in Midland so just interested in what you did.
