Me too. It was on Tuesday night and they have been announcing the new HD channels on Wednesday every week.

I haven't changed to HD yet but after this started I called DirecTV and asked them if we were going to have the local channels. (That would have been a serious problem for me.)

The guy I talked to looked it up and said that we don't have it yet but we should have it by the February deadline because it was a legal requirement. I am assuming that we will have the local channels by the deadline.

I am planning on buying a 42" Sony LCD after Thanksgiving. The manager at Kohls (McAllen) said they would have a huge shippment prior to Thanksgiving and the prices would be good. He also told me to buy a Sony Playstation instead of a Blu-Ray DVD player because you get the player and the game box for 399. He said the the BluRay(sp) would load faster on the Playstation. (I don't play video games but the grandkids do.)

There's a pretty good deal on a 40" Sony on slickdeals today for $1099. But I hear TV deals will be really good after Thanksgiving.

I would encourage you to price check on amazon.com. I bought my 50 inch plasma online there and they delivered it to my house free of charge. They set it up and took the trash with them.

Oh and they also give you a refund if the price drops for 30 days after you buy it.

I shouldn't have looked at the current price. It's $500 cheaper than it was 6 months ago.

I do know that when I watched our local Fox in HD (48-3), the picture was HD but the audio was not the 5.1 surround, just regular 2 channel audio..somewhat annoying, but I don't care as much as long as I can still pull in Fox from NYC (channel 398).

Now I can order the new HD DVR and actually record locals!
