So true. We usually get 80% of our yearly rain in a total of like 8 days.

Don't get too excited about this. It is going to be a minimal hurricane. Coastal areas get a lot of stuff but inland just rain and some wind. Inland we have cold fronts that are like this.

Just be sure to pick up the junk in your yard, so that it won't be blown through your or your neighbors window. A lot of places will be closed on Wednesday...enjoy the day off.

I'm getting "what should I do" phone calls from my mother (in McAllen). I told her just fill up the car and don't really worry about anything since she is so far inland and it appears that Dolly will be a minimal hurricane. And be happy for the rain (unless you're a cotton farmer getting ready to pick).

I think a lot of the local businesses (not retail) are closing there doors early. The one I consult for (Edinburg) closes up at 3:00 and won't reopen until Friday. I imagine Pan Am and school districts(summer school)to do the same. That way people can go home and get there stuff picked up.

My wife and I just got back from our walk on the beach here on North Padre Island. The access roads are blocked-off; the beach is a 3 minute walk from my front door. That is, if you can call it the beach. The water is all the way up to the sand dunes. There is no beach! A few waves pushed water up to the access road. That is way up here, 100 miles or so north of Brownsville. You guys playing-around with this storm may feel differently in a couple of days. Best wishes, and better safe than sorry!
