Yeah, yeah I know that there are a million 'qualified' landscapers running around the Valley. I'm hoping one of you good folks (oldvalleyrat?) has had a good experience with a particular company or individual. Recently purchased a home in McAllen and the sprinklers need some help.

Any advice would be appreciated!

My daughter (class of 97) and her husband just bought a new house in June. The contractor recommended Lopez Nursery (on North 23) for a sprinkler system. We negociated turn key price of $1700. (House warming gift because I figured the yard would burn up with out it.) We also put in a second water meter for $400 to reduce the sewage cost.

The system seems to be working fine. I am not too sure about them repairing systems. The more standard places are Willy's place called Earth Irrigation, and Southern Landscaping but I am sure that they are more expensive.

I don't have a sprinkler system in my yard because it is over and acre and I flood irrigate it. Which I will be doing this next week. (I can't afford to sprinkle the yard.)

I had one experience with Earth Irr and I wouldn't let those guys near my property. WAAAAAAY overpriced and extremely arrogant attitude IMO.

I would recommend Willie at Earth Land.
My company uses them for commercial projects, but he did repair work at my house as well.

Thanks for the tips guys. FYI, calling Earth Irrigation was the impetus for my original post. The prices he quoted me over the phone were laughable, literally; I laughed as said "thank you".

I'll give the guys at Ace a call. I can't get anyone to answer the phone at Lopez...they may have succumbed to the economy.

I don't think they are out of business but they are hard to get hold of. If felt like they were pretty inexpensive so they might be worth pursuing.
