Last rainfall of significance was on November 23 and was .99 inches. We used to get little storms that would blow through with these cold fronts but it seems like the weather has forgotten how. Fortunately, my neighbors and I irrigated our yards last week so the yard/trees are doing fine.

Maybe the indians down in Donna will do a little rain dance for the farmers. Seems like it is time for a storm to blow in off the gulf and fill up the reservoirs.

Been a long time since I have seen the Valley this dry, this early in a year.

The 3-4 day misty/drizzly days of cold in Feb. and Mar. seem to have stayed behind in the 90's. Those did a lot to help with the moisture of the soil. I don't remember a winter, although I did miss a few, where we had many of those days in the last 10-15 years.

I do believe in climate change that is for sure.

Growing up farming in the lower Valley, my family's life was defined by the weather. As a rule, the RGV is generally dry most of the year, but we usually make it up in the tropical season.

We've now gone through two tropical cycles with deficient rainfall and it shows. This year may prove to be just an inconvenience if the region misses on another rainy season.

McAllen is going to mandatory water rationing in April, if you haven't heard.

It's drier than a popcorn fart down here.

Watering is not a real problem with me. If the yard gets too dry, I go over to San Juan and buy a water ticket for me and all my neighbors for $20 per head. We open the valve and run water into the yards one at a time for two days and flood the yard. It would break my bank accout to water this place otherwise! Our water district allows you to irrigate as many times as you want which is nice.

One of the requirements when we went looking for a house 10 years ago that it have irrigation available.

and the wind is howling out of the south today. Going to make yard work suck.
