This morning the chairman of the EDC in Edinburg was quoted in the Monitor as saying that Edinburg was the Frisco of the Rio Grande Valley! Jeez.

I spend a fair amount of time in Frisco and I can say with certainty that the chairman is misinformed on this particular issue.

If some particular area HAS to be the Frisco of the valley I would guess it would be NE McAllen or the area around the Cimarron. I can't think of any place in Edinburg that beats those two spots in Frisco-ness.

Please explain the reference.

He said Edinburg's retail space is growing much like Frisco did when it boomed.

He might have a point but the reference sounds ridiculous.
