Thinking about going to SPI during Christmas week. we are regular SPI visitors.

Have found a few houses to rent. What is Christmas like on the island? Crowded? Rent is higher than summer. Should I book now or wait it out and possibly get a better rate closer to Christmas, if they haven't booked?

Rent should be much lower than summer. If you go through the agencies they might try to gouge you. Try through VRBO or Homeaway.com and negotiate.

You might be getting jacked on the prices if you are wanting to stay through or after the 1st of the year, due to a lot of folks that do 2-3 month winter Texan rentals, many start on the 1st or 2nd.

Fall and winter are my favorite times in PI/SPI, weather is always dice, might be wonderful or might be blowing 35 mph out of the north with a constant drizzle, and it will blow for 2-3 days at a time, you just never know. Water will be cold. Eating places are not crowded and have lots of good specials.

I love the area at Xmas time. Hope it works out for you.

Prices around Christmas should be close to half of what they are in the summer.

We did Christmas on the island a couple of years ago. It was really nice. Not crowded. Quiet. Restaurants were mostly closed, but some were open.
